This Week

Just want to let you know of a few things for the week.  First of all, we had an exciting assembly today about rainforest animals.  I think the kids really loved watching me hide my face when the snake came out:)
Due to the assembly we will be going to library tomorrow morning.  We also will be filmed to be on Channel 13's salute to schools.  I will let you know when that will air.  Have a wonderful week!

One week to go!

We’ve enjoyed another wonderful week here at Valley View.  We look forward to finishing our MEAP testing on Tuesday.  I am so proud of how hard the children are working and I can tell they are doing their best!  They still have NO HOMEWORK until Monday, October 21st !!! I appreciate all of the snack donations.  Thanks in advance for your generosity!  Remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast.  I also am very proud of the many students that are doing the electronic detox.  Way to go!

Language Arts:  We continue working hard to improve our writing.  We are learning how to start with good leads to hook the reader.  We also are working on how to write true stories.  I look forward to celebrating some of our writing soon!  We have also been reading the book “Because of Winn Dixie”.  A great story about a girl who finds a dog that helps her make new friends in a new town.

Math:  We have finished unit one and moved into unit two.  Concepts that we have been learning about are frames and arrows, practicing addition and subtraction, following rules for in and out tables, and more math games.

Science:  The kids have enjoyed learning about living things.  We have looked at plants, flowers, crayfish, and other animals.  We were fortunate enough to have Mr. Walda visit us last week.  He is a retired science teacher who loves coming in to share his expertise.  He did an awesome lab of living things in the sea.  What an awesome extension of what we are learning!
