Sledding Fun!

Well, when it snows we need to make the best of it.  What better way to do that than to go sledding and enjoy a little hot chocolate!  We had a blast together after our strenuous 2 day week:)

Welcome Back!

It has been a short yet crazy week back!  I had so much fun hearing from all of the children about their break.  We took some time to wrap up 2013 by discussing some of the memories that stood out the most.  We talked about our New Year’s resolutions and discussed ways that we felt we could have the best year ever!  Weekly reports and spelling will resume next weekJ

Math:  We are currently working on unit 5.  In this unit we practice reading and making picture graphs, bar graphs, and tally charts.  We also continue learning about measurement, place value, perimeter, and decimals.  To practice our multiplication facts we start out our math time with games to help make learning the facts fun.  We will continue doing timed tests until the end of the year and celebrate in May with a Sundae party!

Science:  We are finishing our unit on forces in motion.  The children had a great time and we learned through many experiments about forces, motion, friction, inertia, and gravity.

Language Arts:  We are reading Traders In Time and enjoying the tale of two brothers who travel back in time 300 years ago in Michigan.

During our writing workshop we have and continue to work on informational writing.

Computer Lab:  We continue to practice our typing skills.  We also have been doing activities to practice our math facts!

This Week

Just want to let you know of a few things for the week.  First of all, we had an exciting assembly today about rainforest animals.  I think the kids really loved watching me hide my face when the snake came out:)
Due to the assembly we will be going to library tomorrow morning.  We also will be filmed to be on Channel 13's salute to schools.  I will let you know when that will air.  Have a wonderful week!
