Spring is Near!
Wow, what a busy month! I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to see all of you at conferences. This is my favorite time of year, because I love sharing everyone’s growth! I want to also thank everyone who made it on our field trip to Lansing. What a beautiful day! I’m sure that the children are already excited about our next field trip to the Van Andel Museum on Monday, May 9th. We will be exploring the museum, riding the carousel, and learning about different animal habitats. For this field trip we will be leaving at 9 a.m. and returning at 2 p.m. Please let me know if you are interested in going. The cost is $5.50 per student and everyone going will need to bring a sack lunch.
Language Arts: We are continuing book clubs, which the children absolutely LOVE! It is so exciting to see them converse and share their interpretations, and opinions of the books they are reading. We are also using our Versatile Kits. This is a great way for kids to check their comprehension on their own or in a small group.
This week we looked through our writing in our “Writer’s Notebooks” and we lifted one line from a previous story to create a new one. Wow, what creative authors we have!
Math: We are just coming to the end of unit 7. Next week we will be starting unit 8 and learning many new things about fractions.
Science: The children are finishing their unit on light and sound and we will quickly be moving on to living organisms. This will be our last science unit for the year.
Social Studies: We have finished learning about the history of Michigan from early exploration to statehood. It was so exciting visiting Lansing. The children did such a wonderful job and we learned so much!

Basketball Jones
We had a wonderful assembly today. We listened to Basketball Jones tell us that with hard work and dedication we can achieve anything! He also did some very exciting tricks, what a great time!
