December is here!

I know I say this often, but where has the time gone? The month of December is already going quickly. It is an exciting and busy month!

Math: As many of you noticed on the weekly reports, we have started our math timed tests. The kids are doing great and we are doing many fun activities to practice our math facts. One of their favorites so far is going on the everyday math website and playing some of the games.

Spelling: This week we are on unit 12, learning about words with ch and tch. Next week’s list will be the same for all and will have some fun holiday words!

Language Arts: We have continued working in book clubs and presenting information about our books. We are also practicing our fluency and expression by performing readers theaters. The children have also been searching for just right books for their book boxes and this week we are learning about different comprehension strategies using questioning.

Social Studies: Wow! The kids have done an amazing job on their Michigan maps. I would send them home, but I have decided to put them up here so we can enjoy them a little longer:)

Science: We have just started our new unit on forces in motion. There are several hands-on experiments that they will absolutely LOVE!

Important Dates:

Tuesday, December 6: Book Orders are due.

Wednesday, December 7: Holiday Music Concert. Our performance is @6:45 in the RHS auditorium. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early, thanks!

Thursday, December 8: Secret Santa shopping. If you would like your child to shop you may send money with them and make sure they know who they need to buy for.

Polar Express. The children will enjoy a reading of the holiday classic from our very own Mr. Siegel. The kids are allowed to relax and wear pajamas.

Thursday, December 15: Christmas party! Just a reminder that we are making gift bags for Lean on Me, frosting, and munching some cookies while relaxing to some Christmas tunes! Everyone is welcome to join. If you can make a $4 donation, please feel free to either give it to Mrs. Lilly or send it in and I will pass that on to her. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed!

Friday, December 16: Last Day before break!

Please consider bringing in $2.50 to purchase a book for a child in Haiti! Look for a small envelope going home TODAY that would come back by Friday, Dec. 9th if you are interested.

Thank you and have a lovely week!
