Enjoy the Sunshine!

Wow, we have enjoyed a busy and exciting start to the month of May. Thank you so much to all of my fabulous parents for dedicating an entire day to going to Lansing with us last week. What a fun day! I also have to compliment all of the children for their hard work on their animal projects. Absolutely amazing! I love watching them present to the younger classes and share their expertise. I tried to really stress that when we research we use many different resources, and not just the internet.

Language Arts: We are soon finishing the AR program and will have our final AR store in a few more weeks! I hope that your child has enjoyed this and it has helped motivate them to read. We have been showing off our reading skills by performing readers’ theaters for our book buddies. This helps teach them fluency, expression, and tone. I’m so proud of how much everyone has grown.

Math: We just finished unit 9 and had a great time learning how to multiply multi-digit numbers. In unit 10 we will be measuring, graphing, and reviewing mean, median, mode.

Social Studies: We are now done with our Michigan government unit. I think our trip to Lansing helped the kids make a strong connection to the information that they learned about Michigan this year.

Science: We are learning about light and sound and will be until the end of the school year. This is one of my favorite units. We will be exploring with flashlights and prisms. We will also be looking at how light and sound travel.

Spelling: No test today, we will have it on Monday.

Thank you so much to everyone who raised money for Relay for Life. If you are interested in joining in the festivities, you can go to North Rockford Middle School next weekend (It starts Friday afternoon). Even though there is no cure for cancer, we continue to make strides through cancer research and it couldn’t be done without donations from all of you!
